Perimenopause is a term used to describe the years before and just after a woman’s final menstrual period. This phase of her life can be challenging as she faces what Dr. Hatfield describes as “hormonal chaos”. Estrogen and progesterone levels can fall and rise rapidly and with no warning, leading to an array of disturbing symptoms including sleep disturbance, mood swings, irregular bleeding, fatigue, anxiety, breast tenderness, vaginal dryness, brain fog, and hair loss.
There are no blood tests to confirm the diagnosis and most physicians do not know how to help women experiencing hormone dysregulation, so they attempt to treat the symptoms with sleeping pills, anti-depressant medications and birth control pills.
Dr. Hatfield takes a different approach to perimenopause. She identifies lifestyle changes that can help minimize symptoms and employs the use of nutraceuticals and Bio-Identical Hormones to help ease the transition towards menopause. Her more than 30 years of experience as an Obstetrician Gynecologist means she is comfortable managing hormone imbalances and other women’s health issues.
If you or someone you care about is struggling with perimenopause, we encourage you to schedule an appointment to discuss your symptoms and discover if we can help.
