How Is Sculptra Performed?
Preparation: Areas to be treated are marked, and goals and expected results are discussed. The skin is cleansed, and local freezing or ice is applied for comfort.
Procedure: Sculptra is injected into the dermis using a blunt cannula to minimize bruising. The injections are well-tolerated with minimal discomfort. Once injected, PLLA stimulates natural collagen production, gradually firming and rejuvenating the skin.
Post Treatment: Mild bruising and swelling are common and usually resolve within a few days. Patients are instructed to massage the treated area 5 times per day to prevent nodules from forming. Results develop gradually over several months and can last up to 2 years.

What Are Biostimulators (Sculptra)?
Biostimulators are injectable treatments designed to stimulate collagen production. The Sculptra brand uses poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), a biocompatible molecule that breaks down into water, glucose, and carbon dioxide. When injected into the deeper layers of the skin, PLLA stimulates fibroblast cells to produce collagen, which helps maintain skin structure and elasticity.
Sculptra is used in areas where volume restoration and skin tightening are most needed: the temples, cheeks, nasolabial folds, marionette lines, jowls, and neck. Treatments are spaced approximately 2 months apart, with a total of 4–6 vials recommended for optimal results. The effects develop gradually over several months, resulting in natural-looking improvement that can last up to 2 years.

How Many Sculptra Treatments Are Recommended?
Typically, 2–3 treatment sessions are recommended for optimal results, spaced 6–8 weeks apart. The exact number may vary depending on individual goals and the degree of volume loss. Maintenance treatments are usually done every 1–2 years.
Is Sculptra Painful?
Most patients experience only a mild sensation of pressure or slight pinching during the injections. Topical numbing cream can be applied to further enhance comfort.
What Is the Downtime After Sculptra?
Downtime is minimal. Mild swelling, redness, or bruising at injection sites may occur but typically resolves within a few days. There is a small risk of nodules forming under the skin, but careful post-care, including daily massage, minimizes this risk.
