Ideal Candidates for Sculptra are individuals experiencing volume loss and skin laxity due to aging. It is suitable for those looking for a long-term solution to restore facial contours and improve skin texture without immediate results.

What Are Biostimulators?

Biostimulators are injectable treatments designed to stimulate collagen production. The Sculptra brand of bio-stimulator uses poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), a biocompatible molecule that breaks down into water, glucose and carbon dioxide. When injected into the deeper layers of the skin, PLLA stimulates fibroblast cells to make collagen, a protein that helps maintain skin structure and elasticity.
Sculptra is injected using a fine needle or cannula in areas where volume restoration and skin tightening are needed most: the temples, cheeks, nasolabial folds, marionette lines, jowls and neck. Treatments are spaced approximately 2 months apart, with a total of 4-6 vials recommended for optimal results.

The effects of Sculptra develop gradually over several months as the collagen develops. You can expect improved skin volume and tightness with a natural-looking result that can last for up to 2 years.

Dr. Hatfield recommends this treatment for women who don’t want to look like they’ve had work done or are nervous about dermal fillers. We always begin with a consultation, then together we create a plan that fits your budget and goals.

Treatments begin at $800 and vary depending upon number of vials required

How Is It Done?

Preparation: We start with marking the areas to be treated, discussing goals and expected results. Then the skin is cleansed and local freezing or ice applied to keep you comfortable.

Procedure: The product is injected into the dermis using a blunt cannula, which reduces the risk of bruising. The injections are well tolerated with minimal discomfort. Once injected, PLLA stimulates the body's natural collagen production and the skin gradually becomes firmer and more resilient.

Post Treatment: Mild bruising and swelling are common and usually resolve within a few days. You will be sent home with instructions to massage the treated area 5 times per day to prevent the formation of nodules under the skin. The effects of Sculptra develop gradually over several months and results can last for up to 2 years.

Number Of Treatments

Typically, 2 to 3 treatment sessions are recommended for optimal results, with each session spaced 6 to 8 weeks apart. The number of treatments may vary based on individual goals and the extent of volume loss. Maintenance treatments are done as needed, roughly every 1-2 years.

Pain Associated

The procedure involves minimal discomfort, with most patients experiencing only a mild sensation of pressure or a slight pinching during the injections. Topical numbing cream can be used to enhance comfort

Down Time & Side Effects

Mild swelling, redness, or bruising at the injection sites may occur, but usually resolve within a few days. There is a small chance of nodules forming under the skin, but the risk of these is low so long as post care instructions are followed carefully.
